WMC – House Track of the Year 2012 – Jon Dasilva & Maceo Plex
Mercurial DJ and Producer, Jon Dasilva was co conspirator in defining the music policy of the seminal UK club Fac 51 The Hacienda during the Acid House era and was slap bang at the centre of the early days of UK House/Techno music scene.
No less bold with his studio work, he has a string of cutting edge productions to his name spanning two decades on labels including Ellum Audio, Rush Hour, Soma, Mute, Deconstruction, Eskimo, Get Physical and Kindisch, and has recently been awarded “Best House Track 2012-13” at The International Dance Awards for “Love Somebody Else” by Jon Dasilva and Maceo Plex (feat. Joi Cardwell).
Dasilva’s wide musical tastes and ability to work through these for some deranged dance floor action also mark him out as specialist deck-master, taking his cues from the legends that inspired him, the likes of Francois Kevorkian and Ron Hardy.
Considered an influence on a whole generation of DJ’s, Dasilva now concentrates on his work with Jonas Nilsson as Hallo Halo, an Anglo Swedish production unit having a ball with whatever music comes their way.
They have an up and coming release on Kindisch Records (Get Physical’s beautiful little cousin).
You can check some remixes here on their Soundcloud.
