Özgür Can releases full length album!

The multitalented Stockholm based Özgür Can is just about to release a much wished-for debut album. Early October ‘ Put me in a box and label me’ is out on newly started label ‘ Eat My House’.
Özgür has made remixes for a long list of well-known names and labels for years, and now it is his time to prove just how deep and mature his sound can be.
The first single of the album is a collaboration with vocals from Rasmus Kellerman ( Tiger Lou ) and remix by Juuso Pikanen ( Fritjof & Pikanen ). The result tells a beautifully warm and dreamy electro influenced story that sets the expectations for the rest of the album high! As tweeted by Özgür himself, this is a listening album!

It’s easy to see why Andycap’s bootleg remix of Phoenix ‘Fences’ got over 10 000 views on YouTube this summer! The tranquility of the remix takes this song to a whole new level. The well-placed melodic strands and moving high notes creates an atmospheric listening experience. The mix allows the original songs to blend in, in a truly inspirational manner. Andy, or Andreas Schulz that is his given name, has a certain flair for experimenting and fearlessly try out new paths on his musical journey. Since his entering the music scene in 2006 he has been steadily moving upwards. The last couple of years being particularly successful, with releases on labels like Get Physical and Macarize. This dreamy remix sets the standard, let’s us know this is only the beginning.

A highly influencial label with a vision, as stated by the Canadians themselves; ’The label’s vision is simple. Ignore the norm and broaden the definition of electronic music in order to deliver it to as many music lovers as possible.’
’Come together’ is yet another jewel from Mikkas Skulstad. Sophisticated and laidback, this electro influenced house is a creation of pure listening pleasure!

On Sep 1 by adminBack in the early 1994 Jon Dasilva made one exclusive remix of Colourblinds house cover of 1979 ‘You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else’. Being a limited pressing, the track has been played for almost two decades by the DJs lucky enough to have the original vinyl.
Today, it’s about to be released in a completely new form. Maceo Plex and
got into the studio classic house singer Joi Cardwell to re-record once again in a 2012 version with a slight touch of old-school vibes and a signature Maceo bass-line. Official date September the 24th on Ellum.

Djuma Soundsystems well-established signature sound is characteristic, warm and deep with a solid focus on the melodic elements. The summer of 2012 brings two impressive releases in form of the single ‘Cherimoya’ ( vs Kolombo ) on Aeroplane’s label Eskimo Recordings and ‘Come together’ on Canadian My Favorite Robot as well as a remix for Maja Jane Coles, that further ascertains Djuma Soundsystems influence on the scene!

Jon Dasilva is confirmed for a special performance at Get Physical’s label party at Sónar 2012 in Barcelona, Spain.
Jon will be playing B2B with Maceo Plex at a very special pool party hosted by Get Physical on Sunday the 17th. Tickets on Resident Advisor.
Sonar is a pioneering festival that is unique in terms of its format and content: “A leading benchmark thanks to a carefully assembled range of culture that combines entertainment with artistry, the avant garde and experimentation, featuring the most consolidated artists and trends in electronic music and their interactions and hybridisations with other genres”.

For this weekend we are especially proud to present a mix by Mr K’Akex Shellby – one of the founding fathers of Chicago house movement and the latest artist to join our family here at WMWL.
As the veteran of house music & Tec and resident at the legendary The Warehouse – Mr K’Alexi has been a leading light in the scene for the past twenty years. Known as one of the founding fathers of Chicago house, K’Alexi at the tender age of 12 found himself moving in the right circles with the likes of Ron Hardy, Marshall Jefferson, Mr. Lee and Frankie Knuckles.
